 Google vs. College: Following his rejection by 16 universities, Google recruits an 18-year-old as a software engineer. Stanley applied to 18 universities, but 16 of them rejected him as a computer science major in spite of his accomplishments. A full-time software engineer rejected by sixteen elite universities was hired by Google. Google has hired 18-year-old Stanley Zhong, a Palo Alto, California, high school alumnus, as a full-time software engineer. This follows his rejection from sixteen universities, including state universities and the esteemed Ivy League. Stanley, who attended the prestigious Gunn High School in the center of Silicon Valley, excelled academically, earning a 3.97 unweighted and 4.42 weighted GPA. In his sophomore year, he founded RabbitSign, an e-signing firm, after receiving a score of 1590 out of 1600 on the SAT, which is equivalent to 10th standard in India.
